Smartseeds (member of Demetra-Holding) digital logistics platform for grain trucks was implemented at another deep water grain terminal Taman Grain Terminal Complex (TGTC). More than 130 000 cargo trips were made and over 4 million tons of grain were shipped for export during its operation.
The integration of the electronic queue for motor vehicles commenced at TGTC in July 2023. Today, the service has been fully implemented and optimized. As a result of the process improvement, the average time spent by motor vehicles at the terminal reduced by 30%. This is critically important for TGTC, as agricultural cargoes arrive at the terminal only by road, and the railway to the terminal will be constructed only by 2027.
TGTC became the second deep water terminal to introduce Smartseeds electronic queue service. Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NGT) was the first to launch the technology in November 2021. The road transportation to the terminal more than doubled since the introduction of the electronic queue, while the average time of unloading a grain truck at the port facilities does not exceed two hours.
In total, more than 300 000 trips were made to NGT and TGTC, and more than 9.6 million tons of grain were shipped for export using Smartseeds electronic queue. Novorossiysk Grain Terminal and Taman Grain Terminal Complex are among the largest deep water ports in the Azov-Black Sea basin. On average, NGT ships 6.5 million tons of grain to foreign markets with TGTC shipping 5.5 million tons of grain annually. Terminals increase transshipment volumes on a yearly basis, including through digital technology infusion into operational processes.
Anton Kondratov, Director of Smartseeds:
“The services provided by Smartseeds have become the real drivers of digital transformation in the Russian agricultural industry. Our products bring together various participants in the motor transportation market. For example, the introduction of the electronic queue at export terminals allowed not only to improve transparency of fulfilling business obligations, but also to create comfortable environment on regional highways, ensure safety and reliability of grain transportation. It is also worth mentioning that the service is flexible and quickly integrated with any information systems.”
Smartseeds electronic queue service is continuously evolving. This year, drivers are empowered to transfer timeslots in case of delay, and a reservation tool has been introduced. The new functionality is aimed at keeping up-to-date with reliable information on cargo flows heading to the terminal to ensure better and more flexible unloading management.
