Head of Demetra-Holding: Russian grain should be sold directly

Established in 2018, Demetra-Holding has become one of the largest infrastructure players in the Russian grain market over the past years. In his interview to Interfax, Aleksey Gribanov, General Director of Demetra-Holding, spoke about the priority areas the company is focused on, change of ownership in 2023 and its impact on the investment program as well as the relationship with agricultural producers.

- Since its establishment, the holding company has developed a large fleet of grain carriers, implements projects in ports and expands its network of grain elevators. What areas of development have become priorities during this time?

- The holding company has consolidated large infrastructure grain assets, including Rusagrotrans, the Black Sea terminals, elevators, trading assets, digital platforms, and railway operators transporting timber and industrial cargo.

Our trading department purchased 15 million tons of grain last season, which is about 10% of the total harvest. The company's deep-water terminals in the Azov-Black Sea basin processed 12.5 million tons of exported grain, which amounted to 18% of Russia's total export of 72.8 million tons. Here we are talking about Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NGT), which is fully owned by the holding company, and Taman Grain Terminal Complex (TGTC) with 50% interest owned by the company.
