By the end of 2024, Taman Grain Terminal Complex (TGTC) climbed to an all-time high in transshipment of agricultural cargo for exports with 5.7 mln tons of grain crops processed at the terminal, which is up 24% from 4.6 mln tons transshipped in 2023.
Moreover, TGTC set new highs in handling bulk carriers and trucks: 138 vessels were loaded in 2024, up 23% from 2023 (112 vessels), and 183 thousand grain trucks were unloaded, up 20% from 2023 (152 thousand trucks).
The growth in transshipment volumes was contributed among other things by TGTC’s involvement in the national Labour Efficiency project. The project facilitated the process of grain sampling when received from trucks, which reduced the sampling time by 10% and increased the site's processing capacity from 17 to 39 trucks per hour.
The electronic queue service, a joint project with Smartseeds digital logistics platform, made a significant contribution to the improvement of transshipment. It facilitated straight-line terminal utilization by motor vehicles throughout the day and reduced by 30% the average idle time of grain carriers.
Sergey Gnatko, General Director of TGTC:
"We are constantly focusing on the development of the terminal. Modernization of berths commenced at TGTC in 2024: dredging will be carried out and a second conveyor line will be built, which will speed up vessel loading. Construction of the railway infrastructure towards the company will commence shortly. Upon the implementation of the investment projects, the terminal's annual capacity will reach 8 mln tons."
