The staff of Taman Grain Terminal Complex (TGTC) received an official letter of gratitude from the Head of Temryuk district municipality Fyodor Babenkov for their assistance in eliminating the emergency situation in the Black Sea.
Since the oil spill near the Cape Panagia in Temryuk district on December 20, 2024, TGTC employees participated in regular cleanup days and cleaned up fuel oil in the area between the berths of the grain terminal and Tamanneftegaz.
23 cleanups were held, in which 140 employees of the company took part. 2 600 garbage bags of soil with a total weight of more than 53 tons were collected from a 700 m long coastline.
Fyodor Babenkov, Head of Temryuk district municipality:
“The accident in the Kerch Strait was a real test for all of us. We are immensely grateful to the volunteers, including the companies that took part and are still involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the environmental disaster. We have demonstrated that we can quickly respond to tough situations, cooperate and work as a team.”
Sergey Gnatko, General Director of TGTC:
“Approximately 280 people work at our terminal, most of them live in Temryuk district, and there were many who wanted to support us during the challenging period. We arranged for the field headquarters right at the company, delegated the authorities among the co-workers and began to take part in cleanup days – at first on a daily basis, and then on an as-needed basis. Representing one of the largest companies, we bear social responsibility for the district in which we operate. Only mutual support from the authorities, local residents and businesses can help to cope with any difficulties.”
According to the Emergency Ministry of the Russian Federation, 475.5 km of the coastline were cleaned, including more than once, since the disaster on December 15, 2024 until April 24, 2025. More than 158 thousand tons of dirty sand and soil were collected. The affected areas included the Krasnodar region (Anapa and Temryuk district), the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
