The Smartseeds online logistics platform (a member of Demetra-Holding) ranks fifth in terms of its business performance in the CNews Analytics’s "Largest IT providers for agricultural companies" rating based on the results for 2023.
The Smartseeds platform operates as an online taxi for grain market participants: cargo owners place orders using the mobile application or website, and cargo carriers take orders using their smartphones.
The platform is integrated with corporate IT systems, which means that users can make transportation orders and exchange the data internally.
Smartseeds operates in 26 Russian regions with more than 17 000 registered cargo carriers. Each participant is verified for compliance with the Agribusiness Charter.
An electronic queue service is in place significantly reducing the average time spent by motor vehicles at terminals. An agricultural freight forwarding service has been introduced, and relevant tools are available to ensure transportation from the field to the storage site or the elevator.
The Smartseeds product portfolio is continually expanding. Currently, the platform is ready to use electronic waybills to make business processes less complicated and grain transportation more transparent. Smartseeds expects that electronic waybills will be implemented in the second half of 2024.
Anton Kondratov, Director of Smartseeds:
"The development of in-house digital tools and services to optimize operations in agribusiness is one of Smartseeds's key objectives. Since the very beginning, we have been actively involved in the digitalization of agriculture in a number of Russian regions, including as part of the Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Krasnodar region. Now, we see the progress made. More than 2.5 million tons of grain were transported using the platform in 2023 showing a twofold increase compared to 2022. We are the choice of tens of thousands of users, and the number of cargo carriers is increasing on a monthly basis due to guaranteed remuneration."
