NGT to build an oil loading terminal with a transshipment capacity of 400 thousand tons per year

Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NGT, a member of Demetra-Holding) is going to build facilities for storage of non-hazardous bulk cargo, its handling from rail and loading onto vessels. The transshipment capacity of new facilities will amount to 400 thousand tons per year.

The oil storage facility will comprise five tanks for storing bulk cargo with a total volume of 24 800 cubic meters. A separate line with a capacity of 600 cubic meters per hour will be implemented for vessel loading. At the same time, the handling of bulk cargo from rail and trucks and its direct transshipment will amount to 400 cubic meters per hour.

The design stage is currently being completed, and construction will commence in the coming months. All facilities are to be commissioned at the end of 2025.

Vladislav Zhukov, Managing Director of NGT:

“The comprehensive development program for the terminal involves its diversification, cargo differentiation, and maximum utilization of existing capacities, including shallow-water berths. This investment project is aimed at addressing all these issues, and if it is a success, it can be expanded to 35 000 cubic meters of one-time storage capacity.”

Novorossiysk Grain Terminal has been transshipping vegetable oil since 2019, molasses since 2023, and fatty acids since 2024. In 2024, 44 thousand tons of bulk cargo were transshipped by sea, up 27% from the previous year. This became feasible partly owing to the renovation of facilities for handling such cargo from trucks.
