Demetra Trading (a member of Demetra-Holding) has completed modernization of car acceptance facilities at Ipatovskiy Grain Processing Plant (Stavropol region) and Oktyabrskiy elevator (Volgograd region). The total car acceptance capacity increased by 44% from 9 000 to 13 000 tons per day.
One of the four car acceptance stations at Ipatovskiy Grain Processing Plant was retrofitted, and a new sample collector along with additional car weights were installed. Currently, the company can handle up to 7 000 tons of grain per day instead of 5 000 tons handled previously showing a 40% increase. As a result, the elevator facilities managed to handle more than 120 thousand tons of grain in June-July 2024 compared to 80 thousand tons a year before.
The supplementary grain pick-up point was arranged at Oktyabrskiy elevator, which increased its overall capacity from 4 000 to 6 000 tons per day (a 50% increase).
Roman Kron, Managing Director of Demetra Trading:
"Modernization of grain handling facilities at all our elevators has become a follow-up of the strategic development program. At the first stage, we were engaged in improving railway shipments and upgrading grain shipping infrastructure. Now it's time to invest in the development of grain handling facilities. This will significantly increase purchase volumes, set all-time transshipment highs, and, which is more to the point, offer more profitable contracts to our suppliers."
Modernization of car acceptance facilities has commenced at Dimitrovgradskiy (Ulyanovsk region) and Chernyshkovskiy elevators (Volgograd region), and is expected to be completed by the year-end. The project will improve grain handling potential of both elevators from 1 960 to 2 800 tons per day (+43%) and from 1 600 to 2 500 tons per day (+56%), respectively. The resulting total capacity of all Demetra Trading elevators will exceed 18 thousand tons per day.
