Designing of a new deep-sea pier for grain exports starts in Novorossiysk

New Pier (the joint venture between NGT and NGPP, part of Demetra-Holding) has started designing port infrastructure facilities: two new deep-sea berths, grain load racks and support structures.

The first stages of the design and survey work (engineering surveying and inspection of the existing hydraulic structures) are currently underway. At the same time, layout and planning solutions for the pier are being developed, taking into account the proximity of neighbouring berths (operated by Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port PJSC) and the results of mathematical modeling of mooring operations in the port water area.

By June 2022, the designer should present the main technical solutions for the future pier: its type, design and layout. Completion of the design, as well as obtaining all necessary approvals and working documentation are planned by mid-2023.

The construction of the new pier is planned to be completed in 2025. Together with the modernization of the terminals, this will increase the throughput capacity of the export infrastructure by 9 million tons.

Andrey Anisimov, CEO of New Pier LLC:

'Since the beginning of designing, we have actually launched a large investment project, which is one of the key elements of the Demetra-Holding and UGC Group strategy to expand the export infrastructure of its port assets. At the same time, New Pier is part of the Development of Seaports federal project, and it helps to solve government tasks to increase exports of agricultural products of our country.'
