The main agricultural conference "Agroholdings of Russia" organized by the Agroinvestor project was held at the Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya Hotel on December 10, 2025. The event was attended by leading agricultural market operators, major agroholdings, investors, federal and regional government officials. Anton Kondratov, General Director of Smartseeds, highlighted the key trends in the automotive logistics in agriculture.
According to Anton Kondratov, the grain transportation market is undergoing active transformation with the growing demand for digitalization and increased service transparency. Digital platforms give access to agricultural producers to the extensive market of cargo carriers ensuring clear terms of cooperation and transportation facilities even during high seasons.
Anton also emphasized that new cargo transportation rules were introduced in September 2025 following the amendments to the Federal Law "On Freight Forwarding Activities." Smartseeds quickly tailored its operations to meet new requirements and establish the overall legal security for its clients.
The key innovation in 2026 will be the mandatory introduction of e-waybills, which will significantly simplify the document management process and tighten control over commodity movements. Smartseeds was the first in the industry to launch e-waybill-based transportation in production. Currently, more than 20,000 tons of grain have been transported using e-waybills.
Speaking on the situation in the market, Anton Kondratov noted that the supply of transportation facilities is growing faster than the export demand is declining. This resulted in a moderate decrease in tariffs in October-December 2025. However, some cargo carriers offer services at below-cost prices trying to keep their market share. The trend has a negative impact on the overall profitability of the industry and poses risks to the long-term business sustainability.
Moreover, the average distance of road transportation has increased as a result of involvement of remote regions in the automotive logistics. When it comes to road exports geography, the Stavropol region experienced the most significant growth of grain export volumes with a total of 23% in 2025, while the Krasnodar region maintained its leadership.
