The international digital technology forum in transport and logistics “Digital Transportation 2025” was held in Moscow on October 01, 2025. Anton Kondratov, General Director of Smartseeds (a member of Demetra-Holding), spoke at three key forum venues presenting best practices in the digitalization of document management in grain shipping.

The key events of the Digital Transportation forum included:

  • Session "Mandatory e-waybill in 2026: What hampers businesses in the transition? From large to small, from cities to fields." The participants discussed the implementation of e-waybils in grain shipping, saw the Smartseeds mobile app interface, and learned case studies of using e-waybills during the session.
  • Partner session "Foresight 2030: New digital environment for automotive logistics" (the Monopoly Group). The automotive logistics development trends through 2030, the role of digital platforms in the industry, security and digitalization risks were addressed during the session.
  • Roundtable discussion on electronic shipping documents involving representatives from the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Federal Tax Service, the Federal Customs Service, and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. Smartseeds shared its experience of using e-waybills and the interim results of its participation in the pilot project of the Russian Government (with the involvement of the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Federal Tax Service) for registration of grain shipments using e-waybills.

Pilot shipments to deep-water ports using e-waybills have been carried out in production since March 2025. Smartseeds experts were actively involved in the development of the Russian Government's experiment methodology for registration of grain shipments by road using e-waybills.

Speaking at the forum, Anton Kondratov noted that grain cargo has a number of parameters that must be accurately shown in e-waybills. Being the leading digital platform for grain transportation by road, Smartseeds aggregates a wealth of additional information about carriers, cargo, and routes. In particular, the platform receives and transfers the grain identification number to the Government information system of electronic transportation documents (GIS EPD), which ensures traceability of the grain batch during shipment. The GLONASS-based transport monitoring system used by Smartseeds allows to track the location and routes of vehicles. Thus, the industry platform is capable of supplementing e-waybills with important additional information and providing the required connection between government information systems.

Anton Kondratov, Director of Smartseeds:

“Our goal is to make shipments by road as efficient and transparent as possible. By implementing electronic shipping documents, we contribute to the industry “cleanup" and protection of the interests of all market participants. We were among the first to join the Government's experiment, developed working chains, and are engaged in real transportation services using e-waybills. Digital solutions can change logistics dramatically. The integration of government information systems through digital platforms, electronic document management, and real-time transport monitoring create a unified ecosystem that mitigates errors and accelerates processes. There's still much work ahead, but the results already show that electronic document management will boost the development of cargo transportation market."

An electronic waybill (e-waybill) is a full-fledged analogue of a paper document confirming the conclusion of a cargo transportation contract.  Using e-waybills facilitates the elimination of paper document exchange and speeding up the “completion" of the shipment significantly.
