A ceremonial signing of a memorandum on strategic cooperation between the Federal Agency for Railway Transport (Roszheldor) and Demetra-Holding was held at Taman Grain Terminal Complex.
The document was signed by Alexander Sakharov, Head of Roszheldor, and Aleksey Gribanov, General Director of Demetra-Holding.
One of the main areas of cooperation between the parties is the implementation of the concession agreement on the construction of public railway infrastructure for transshipment of agricultural cargo on the Taman Peninsula from Taman-Passazhirskaya station to sea terminals.
The implementation of the first stage of construction is to commence in the near future. It will involve the construction of railway infrastructure with a total capacity of 7 million tons of agricultural cargo annually. The second stage will be implemented subsequently and result in doubling capacity reaching up to 14 million tons per year.
It is expected that the new infrastructure will have capacity to handle trains up to 71 cars long both loaded and empty. The length of the construction site is 7.5 km, the total length of the railway tracks will reach 22 km. Two railway bridges and a road overpass will be built on the site to facilitate traffic management.
Upon the implementation of the railway infrastructure construction and berths modernization project, the annual capacity of Taman Grain Terminal Complex will increase from 5.5 to 8 million tons.
Aleksey Gribanov, General Director of Demetra-Holding LLC:
“The most important thing is that the construction and further operation of the new railway infrastructure will provide 386 jobs for local residents. We all have a lot of hard work to do. The result of such work will determine the future development of the Taman port, the region’s export potential and its attractiveness for investors.”
Alexander Sakharov, Head of Roszheldor:
“The project, which is being invested by Demetra-Holding, is part of a large-scale federal project "Development of railway approaches to the Azov-Black Sea basin seaports". We expect that improving the country’s export potential, in particular, transportation of agricultural products, will bring more revenues to the public treasury.”
