Rusagrotrans (a member of Demetra-Holding) transported by rail 16.7 million tons of agricultural products in the 2023/2024 season, including 14.1 million tons of grain (a 10% increase and a 19% increase, respectively, compared to 2022/2023). An all-time high of 12 million tons of grain was transported to export land and deepwater terminals, which is 2.4 million tons more than in 2022/2023 (a 25% increase).
The Novorossiysk terminals handled major grain shipment volumes of 7.6 million tons with an 11% increase compared to the previous season. Record-breaking 1.6 million tons of grain were delivered to the Baltic Sea ports compared to 0.6 million tons last season, including 0.68 million tons of grain delivered to the Vysotskiy Port. The port of Taman experienced the greatest changes in shipments, which amounted to 0.55 million tons (a 17% increase as compared to the end of the previous agricultural season), to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan – 0.9 million tons (a 21% increase).
Rusagrotrans together with the Russian Railways continued to develop route shipments during the past agricultural season. Around 78.5 thousand carloads with a total volume of 5.7 million tons of grain and other agricultural products were dispatched in 2023/2024 compared to 64 thousand carloads with a volume of 4.6 million tons in 2022/2023 (a 23% increase in carloads, a 24% increase in cargo volume). The share of routes in the agricultural exports in 2023/2024 amounted to 43% (compared to 42% in 2022/2023).
The greatest changes in routing were shown by Demetra-Holding elevators: more than 16 thousand carloads with a total volume of 1.15 million tons were dispatched from IKHP (Ipatovskiy Grain Processing Plant), Oktyabrskiy, Chernyshkovskiy and Dimitrovgradskiy elevators.
Domestic transportation of grain and other agricultural products in 2023/2024 amounted to 4.7 million tons, which is slightly less than the 2022/2023 season performance of 5.6 million tons. Rusagrotrans traditionally delivers more than 50% of grain to domestic consumers in the Central and North-Western regions, 16% of grain to consumers in the Volga region, and 10% to the Urals. Grain shipments in the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts also increased in the 2023/2024 season.
