Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NGT) and Smartseeds (a member of Demetra-Holding) commissioned a standing site for grain trucks in Zhemchuzhny rural settlement in the Crimean region.
The new facility, located 30 kilometers away from the port, includes a traffic control service and a lab, which will optimize logistics, increase the speed of grain acceptance from trucks and decrease the burden on municipal roads.
The terminal parking area is intended for 200 trucks and equipped with cutting-edge facilities for grain quality testing.
The permanent availability of an NGT controller and Smartseeds traffic control operators on site allows to control and optimize the flow of trucks heading towards the port. All grain trucks are equipped with geo-trackers transmitting data to share objective and up-to-date information about cargo flows among NGT logistics specialists. This will facilitate tracking the location and path of vehicles online, eliminating unnecessary arrivals of grain trucks into urban areas, reducing traffic jam time and speeding up the unloading process.
As soon as the standing site is launched, a significant logistics improvement is expected: NGT will get the opportunity to form “quality-based convoys”, i.e. dispatch a certain number of grain trucks with the required grain quality. This will speed up the process of preparing shipment loads, and upon complete debugging of all processes, the time spent by trucks at the terminal will reduce by at least 15%.
Vladislav Zhukov, Managing Director of Novorossiysk Grain Terminal:
"The commissioning of the standing site will not only significantly increase the terminal's capacity even now, but will let us get ready for an increase in truck acceptance volumes with the launch of Auto1500 in 2025. It is also very important that Zhemchuzhny will significantly reduce the burden on Novorossiysk road network. So, trucks with grain of inadequate quality will not be allowed to enter the city. NGT turned back 1 288 trucks for 11 months of 2024.
Anton Kondratov, Director of Smartseeds:
"Novorossiysk Grain Terminal has been utilizing Smartseeds electronic queue since 2020, and it has proven its high efficiency. The electronic queue service allows NGT to get up-to-date information about the vehicle flow, flexibly manage the unloading process, reduce downtime, and increase turnaround, which is critical for cargo carriers. The motor terminal commissioned in Zhemchuzhny will optimize the process for the benefit of all transportation participants, so cargo flow towards NGT will become more predictable and smooth. Registration in the electronic queue service provides unlimited access to transportation requests, and Smartseeds becomes a reliable place of permanent employment for the majority of cargo carriers."
