LP Trans (a member of Demetra-Holding) transported a record volume of industrial raw materials and similar goods in the amount of 4.64 million tons in July-September 2024, which showed a 32.5% increase compared to 3.5 million tons transported during the same period last year.
Mineral fertilizers and related raw materials for production purposes still make up the bulk of transportation. Moreover, a 1.8-fold increase in cement transportation was recorded in Q3 2024 compared to 0.88 million tons during the same period last year.
Domestic shipments increased by 38% to 3 million tons in July-September 2024. The growth is related to increased transportation of raw materials to manufacturing plants for mineral fertilizers production purposes, and cement to manufacturers of building materials and construction companies.
Export transportation of goods, mainly mineral fertilizers, towards export terminals increased by 15% – from 1.28 million tons in Q3 2023 to 1.49 million tons in the current year due to increased exports of mineral fertilizers through the Baltic, Northern and Barents Seas ports and the Azov-Black Sea basin ports.
In total, LP Trans transported 12 million tons of industrial raw materials during January-September 2024, which is 19.4% more than last year. Mineral fertilizers and related raw materials made up 78% of the company's transportation volume or 9.4 million tons with growth in this segment amounting to 14% compared to the same period last year. Mineral fertilizers are mainly transported along direct shipping routes using the company's hoppers. The cement transportation segment experienced a 1.9-fold increase to 1.42 million tons during the first nine months of 2024.
The average monthly carloads increased from 16.1 thousand during the first nine months of 2024 to 19.1 thousand in the same period of 2023 (+19.4%).
