Government of the Saratov region and Demetra-Holding signs an agreement of intent to implement the investment project

Roman Busargin, the acting Governor of the Saratov region, and Sergey Emdin, CEO of Demetra-Holding, have signed an agreement of intent to implement the investment project for the construction of a grain elevator.

The new project involves the construction of a grain elevator with a capacity of up to 60 thousand tons in the Pugachevsky district of the Saratov region. It is planned to create about 40 jobs under the project. The volume of expected investments will be up to 1.5 billion rubles.

17 sites in the Saratov region were considered for the project, and a site in Pugachevsky district was chosen. At the moment, the land registration process is underway, after which the design and construction of a grain elevator will begin.

The construction of a new grain elevator is part of Demetra-Holding’s strategy to create and develop an integrated chain of export logistics infrastructure. The company is developing its own network of grain elevators, which will not only create additional capacities for grain storage, but also increase the share of unit train shipments throughout the country.

Sergey Emdin, CEO of Demetra-Holding:

‘Saratov region is one of the most favorable Russian regions for the development of agriculture. A record harvest of 6.1 million tons of grain is expected in the region in 2022; the region's farmers have already harvested 3.7 million tons to date. Our company is solidifying its presence in key grain-producing regions, we are developing our regional network and optimizing logistics routes for shipping grain to ports, all this contributes to strengthening the export potential of the domestic agro-industrial complex.’

Roman Busargin, the acting Governor of the Saratov region:

‘This year we expect a good harvest, so the project of Demetra-Holding is especially important for the region. It will expand the network of grain elevators, improve logistics and, most importantly, help agribusiness companies to quickly sell their products.’

The acting Governor has instructed the relevant ministry to develop a detailed roadmap, which will include all the stages of the project implementation, terms and responsible persons.
